A legendary commander of the Novorossiya Militia, Arsen Pavlov, has been murdered in a terrorist act.
It was impossible to believe. The Ukrainian mass media had so frequently dug the proverbial grave for one of the most experienced and decorated commanders of the Donetsk Militia, that I took yet another report of his death to be one more instance of journalistic fraud.
“Something exploded near my home, closer to Motorola’s,” a journalist whom I know (who lives next door to Arsen Pavlov) wrote to me. “They’ve brought an APC, ambulances, police cars…”
I dialled Motorola’s phone numbers, but he did not answer any of them. A source in the Donetsk People’s Republic’s Ministry of Defence confirmed the terrible rumours: “Arsen has indeed been killed as a result of a terrorist act. According to preliminary intelligence, it was perpetrated by a Ukrainian saboteur-reconnaissance group. The explosive device was installed in the elevator of the house where Motorola lived.”

Arseny’s death will come as a profound shock to those around the world who followed Sparta Battalion’s heroic defence of Donetsk during the first dark months of the Ukrop ATO. He and his fellow commander, Givy, became symbols of a resistance that ultimately triumphed over Kiev’s Ukronazis. The Battles for Donetsk Airport, Ilovaisk…all the way up to Debaltsevo will long be remembered for the courage, bravery and leadership of a remarkable young warrior, Arseny Pavlov.
He proved, with a smile and always animated and outgoing personality, that dynamite and great men often come in small packages.
My thoughts go out to his comrades, be they members of his or other battalions, fellow commanders or commanding officers and, most especially, to his family and widow, Elena, for whom I wish a speedy recovery and the support of all the people of the Donbass. Arseny, Elena and the citizens of this small Republic have shown us that, when a cause seems hopeless, a man of Motorola’s stature will step forward to turn the darkness to light.
May he bathe in that light for Eternity.

I am sickened by that murder. He was a great man and great hero.

These kind of assassinations are blamed on the Ukranian secret services.
In order for the USA to open the Donbass front against Russia, they need to take out the heart out of the resistance. And that is what happens before your eyes.
Long live the sovereign republics of Donbass!
The tragic death of Motorola feels like the end of an era. But the DPR will continue. No doubt, Western elite-controlled US-NATO agents are responsible for the murder, as their systematic escalation of tensions between the West and Russia seems to aim toward world war. Sadly, while Zakharchenko promised a firm response to Ukraine for Motorola’s assassination, Eduard Basurin has said the DPR will still honor Minsk. Possibly this acquiescence is a holding pattern by the Russian sphere until the US election, which should be decisive for US-Russia relations.

This is sad and could be a severe blow to the moral of the DPR and LPR forces. Beyond the personal tragedy, it shows that security and intelligence gathering in Novorussia is lacking. The FSB needs to give a helping hand and maybe also help with counter actions beyond Donbass. The Ukraine has to pay a price, otherwise the rulers in Kiev will only be emboldened to commit more terrorist acts.

Who is next? Zakharchenko? No doubt the DPR and the LPR have evolved from rag-tag militias to full-fledged armies, but their intel branches are still in their infancy. Mozgovoj, Dremov, now Motorola, makes it one too-many unresolved killings without finding out the perps or shedding light on the who, what, why. The assassination of Motorola casts a dark shadow on the abilities of the leadership of the DPR to protect their own cadre, those at the core of the resistance against the Ukro-nazis. A resistance movement incapable of protecting their own political-military cadre, particularly those who have become symbols of the resistance, is either guilty of criminal negligence, or fully infiltrated at the top by enemy agents. Having Motorola living in an apartment building, using elevators, shows that military “intelligence” is a contradiction in terms at the DPR. Any third-rate American mafia movie will let you know elevators are traps, and no capo mafiosi worth of that name will ever use an elevator, or live in an apartment building. Long ago they needed to create a compound for the military cadre and their families, to protect them from any potential infiltration. I won’t speculate on who the perps where, war is by definition a murky exercise, and the situation inside the leadership of the DPR/LPR is not crystal clear and transparent. Too many interests in too many directions are threatening to pull apart the social fabric that gave life to those incipient republics, casting serious doubts on their future as viable political entities.
Heroes never die, and Motorola has already joined the pantheon of heroes in the struggle against the US/NATO newly created version of post-modern old nazi scum. His star will forever shine high on the sky of Novorossiya, a clear, pristine light in the dark night that envelopes Ukrainazistan.

Please don’t say Zakharchenko’s next. Too terrible to contemplate. But the warning needs to reach the DPR leadership. In their casual openness, they often move around unprotected. Motorola’s death seems distinct from Mozgovoy, Dremov, Ischenko and Bednov, who were murdered in the LPR. Some suspect the LPR government (or Moscow agents) were responsible for these murders, but the issue was never clarified. So far, heroes in the DPR had not been assassinated, although of course there were attempts.
