Statement of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Connection with the Attempts to Derail the Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Those Suffering from Hostilities in the Southeastern Region of Ukraine

1919-15-08-2014

The attempts to create new and greater obstacles in the way of the delivery of Russian humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Donbass cause deep concern. The implementation of this mission has entered its final stage. In discussions with the representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and the International Committee of the Red Cross (“ICRC”), we were able to reconcile practically all the key parameters of the transfer to the intended recipients of food, medicine and other essentials.

At the same time, there are forces that intend not simply to deprive the population of the Southeast of Ukraine of this assistance – which is of urgent, immediate necessity – but also to perpetrate open provocations likely to further complicate the situation in the conflict zone. Whereas, if earlier the humanitarian mission was obstructed through flimsy claims of organization and procedural difficulties, we are now receiving information about direct threats of the use of force against our convoy. Reports are coming in that a saboteur group of the «Aidar» punitive battalion is planning to mine certain sections of the roads in the Lugansk region with the intention of destroying the vehicles carrying the humanitarian cargo and the attending personnel; and then to accuse the Militia of these terrorist acts.

We also draw your attention to the sharp intensification of combat operations by the Ukrainian military, which pursues the obvious objective of cutting off the route – agreed-upon with Kiev – of the humanitarian column from the Russian-Ukrainian border to Lugansk.

One gets the impression that in Ukraine and beyond its borders there are still many who wish to derail the humanitarian mission, even at the cost of new victims and destruction. Those who harbor such criminal plans take upon themselves the enormous responsibility for their consequences. The Russian side is firmly committed to the speediest and most comprehensive performance of the agreements arrived at with the leadership of Ukraine and the ICRC with respect to the delivery of humanitarian aid to residents of Donbass. We are taking all the precautions we can to ensure the safety of this mission. We call on both sides to immediately announce a ceasefire for the duration of its implementation in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law. We are counting on the active support of the efforts being undertaken by the ICRC, the OSCE and the UN.

  2. Even tho we have come to expect such shenannigans from the kievtyrants it still surprises they go so far to carry out their agenda of starvation, health crises and outright slaughter. The sheer visciosness of it makes it hard to accept that what we suspected is exactly so. More like a horror comic than real life
we are living in a global insane asylum

    • Yep, @Sophia, it seems to be the case. The WarZone has expanded from the Middle East to Central Europe. Ugly and demonic it is.

      • This is what must pass if there will become enough people who SEE reality and we can make no great change until there are enough people to THINK PEACE and united in Spirit we can MAKE THAT CHANGE.
Putin should NOT take military action until the rabid animals do something so outrageous that he cannot be blamed,
        and this he knows.
Have studied his astrochart.. He is a VERY Spiritual man and patient as all the years he has been practicing Martial Arts have taught him to be
” Know your enemy and wait till he makes a mistake when he gets too angry to move with caution and THEN strike and your enemy falls into your hands”
IMV we are fast approaching that moment when the hungry rabid animals push too far too fast and trip themselves in their greed and Putin will see it coming to a boil and be ready.
Please envision this play out of actions so he has the best possible point frm where to take down the kievmilitary and the “rebels” in Syria, Egypt, Libya et al will take notice and know they are working for the wrong boss.

PUTIN has made friends and has a huge back up among them all.
Yes that time we have all dreaded is near.
        DO NOT FEAR.
Life is only the other side of death.

  4. This type of destruction is what they want. They want as many dead as possible. They will not have a need to care for them in the future. They want them out of the way. The evil that is occurring now is reaching new heights I must say and it will come to all of us. I pray Russia and their allies take necessary steps now because it’s coming sooner rather than later. God Bless Us All.

  5. President Putin! Send in the army to liberate Novorossia, now!
The west are like jackals, they will not go to war. And the sanctions they have already imposed. Russia will be the next target if you do not intervene now!
